Woman Gets Virus, Has Flight Cancelled And Gets Hit By Motorbike – All In One Girl's Holiday

For many, Ibiza is a rite of passage for young revellers and many return with glory-filled tales of being the last person in Amnesia, meeting Fat Boy Slim in the Pacha smoking area and unforgettable moments watching the sunrise at Es Vedrà.

But one girl's debut trip to the White Isle didn't go quite as planned - and that's putting it lightly.

Kate McClean, 22, and her girl friends had headed to the famed party island back in May for a five-day holiday, and things began swimmingly with the girls doing a bar crawl on their first night. Success.

However the following night on a trip to Playa d'en Bossa, Kate had to be carried out of the club because she couldn't walk. But far from having a few too many bevs, the administration work had caught a virus.

"I was being sick and couldn't stand up all through the night until 8am. I was told I had caught a serious virus so I couldn't eat or drink for three days," Kate told LADbible.

"I had to stay in the room for the rest of the holiday whilst I watched my friends get ready to go out to all the events we had already bought tickets for," she added.

After spending her holiday in her sick bed, Kate was more than ready to head home. However, when she and her friends were due to travel home on Sunday, their flight was cancelled and they were told when they were already on the plane.

Like things couldn't get worse, Kate claims passengers weren't given food or water on the plane for four hours while they waited to see if it would take off.

Being told there wasn't any flights until Wednesday, the girls had no option but to find a close by hotel to stay in.

"We had to find a hotel close by to stay in until we could fly home. We booked one in Playa d'en Bossa, but by this point we had no money and I was starting to feel better so we decided to get some Pot Noodles from the supermarket before we went out that night, " she said.

Feeling much better with her virus passing, and accepting they were stuck in Ibiza (which only meant another chance at trailing the epic party scene), Kate's newfound morale-boost was stopped in its tracks when-

"As I went to cross the road a motorbike hit me which sent me flying in the air. I got carried to my room by people who saw it happen and after medical attention I was told I had broken three ribs," Kate recalls.

"I was in so much pain and had really bad whiplash. I couldn't go to hospital as my travel insurance had run out because I was supposed to be flying home that day. I then had to stay in bed until I could get home."

After her hat-trick of disaster, Kate got a flight home to Leeds on Tuesday, where she then had to get a train back to Manchester where she says she had to "hobble" all the way home.

Kate concluded: "I'm laughing about it now we're in September I wasn't laughing in May. My mates are p**sing in the group chat, [they] told me I'm not going away with them next year. One drama after another with me, it's horrendous."

Kate, you are all of us. And think of the positives, at least you had one good night out. So, erm, not a total waste?
