It's forever baffling just how little men know about periods. Remember when men thought that women stuck sanitary towels to their actual bodies? Or that you can squeeze a woman's period blood out of her by hugging her too hard?

Well, we've just found the most hilarious new myth which is sweeping the internet - and it's all thanks to a TikTok from actress, Dakota Fink.

Dakota took to the video sharing app to mock just how little our male counterparts actually know about our time of the month, peeling an artificial layer of skin off her face and writing: "Throwback to when men didn't know we had to peel off layers of our skin after our period."

Screaming.

What then followed was a bunch of men losing their actual minds in the comment section, as the video racked up more than 15 million views.

In response, one bamboozled individual wrote: "So it's true... to every girl, woman, and non-binaries that have periods. I'm so sorry y'all have to go through so much."

While another viewer added: "Showed this to my husband last night and he was all 'Wait WHAT? You do that? And straight faced I was like 'oh yeah every time, totally a thing'."

A third male viewer also completely missed the gag, writing: "Wait I thought she was trolling lol damn this is very interesting. i'm boutta text my mom lmao (sic)".

As another tagged their pal and wrote: "You know I love and respect you but is this true??? This is the first I'm hearing about this," a fifth added: "I'm not a woman but holy f*ck I just learned something new."

The funniest part is that tonnes of women got the joke after spotting it, and proceeded to join - continuing to baffle men even further in the comments.

"Don't forget to moisturise your new skin after, ladies!," one teased.

As another penned: "Ugh thank god somebody said it! Getting the skin around my eyes is the hardest part. What do you guys recommend?"

A third shared a picture of a face mask, which they pretended was their skin, and mocked: "More proof for the people who don't believe us :/ got it off in one peel at least".

"Ahhh, the shedding phase. We can do this in public now? I'm so here for it," joked a fourth.

And their bluffing was so good that some other women even fell for it.

"Are y'all joking? Lol because I'm 25 and this has never once happened to me. I'm reading the comments and I feel like y'all playing a joke on us bc wtf. Nobody in my life has ever told me about this happening either lol," wrote a woman as they read through all the fake responses.

As another said: "Why is everyone in the comments acting like this is common knowledge? I've had my period since I was 9 and the only thing I get is cramps and lower back pain. Everyone else I know doesn't have this and I had no idea this was even a thing."

"I thought y'all were joking to confuse men but y'all are deadass," wrote a third. "I ain't never had or heard of this in my life".

For the avoidance of doubt, people who have periods absolutely do not shed skin like a reptile when it's their time of the month.

Although, many of us do go through so many other unpleasant symptoms it wouldn't be that surprising, tbh.

Brb, we're off to blow the mind of just about every man we know...
