Sometimes, a piece of cinematography will come into our lives and change it forever: Sakeru's long gummy candy adverts are that.

The ads by the Japanese sweet brand tell the story of Chi-chan, Tooru-san and Long Long Man's complicated love triangle - and it reads like a better soap opera than EastEnders.

The series of ads from 2018 have been circulating the Internet ever since, and they still seem to have people giggling to this day.

In the compilation of eleven ads (below), we first see Chi-chan enjoying some average-sized gummy sweets while on a date with her beau, Tooru-san, when her head is turned by an enigmatic stranger who wields an extra long version of the sweets.

The name of the mysterious guy, Long Long Man, is droned out in each commercial, as Chi-chan becomes more and more obsessed with his, um, length.

Yes, the innuendos come thick and fast as one ad sees the Chi-chan fantasising in some bedroom activity with Long Long Man, and another finds her friend telling her that size isn't everything.

The narrative continues to run throughout the ads as the couple keep finding themselves running into Long Long Man. No matter how much Chi-chan tries to quash her feelings, she can't seem to get Long Long Man out of her head.

Finally, it comes to the couple's wedding day, and it turns out that Long Long Man's affections don't lie with Chi-chan, but instead with her boyfriend, Tooru-san.

Understandably, the people of Twitter have been enraptured by their love story.

One Twitter user wrote: "One epic plot twist. Ship it very mucho."

"I feel like I just watched a movie where the plot twist was they're both gay and I loved it," another viewer gushed.

A third added: "Oh my GOD that was the plot twist of the CENTURY."

While somebody else chimed: "I saw this the other day..! I wish adverts were like this here, there's a whole narrative going on!"

Sakeru, when you decide to release a sequel to this love story, we will be ready and waiting.
