We've all fibbed about a special occasion to try and get a room upgrade or a free dessert. Haven't we?!

The couple managed to get free shots from a number of strangers in the bar, before moving on to another establishment where they were bought even more drinks, explaining they were "celebrating their engagement".

In a video clip, Adam can be seen getting down on one knee in the middle of the bar, with the pair in hysterics at their private joke.

Once Corinne 'said yes', the couple burst out laughing as strangers cheered at the happy news.

One woman looked overjoyed for the pair as she clapped from the sidelines.

But six months on from the stunt and Adam, who works in sales, decided to propose for real, much to Corinne's surprise.

Adam popped the question in front of their family and friends at his birthday party and Corinne said yes - for real this time.

"We both have the exact same humour - that's one of the main components of our relationship," said Corinne.

"People started buying us shots and congratulating us - it was hilarious and definitely a great way to get free drinks.

"It has definitely been a whirlwind romance. We were best friends for eight years before we were a couple and that trip to Atlanta was actually one of the first trips we had been on together.

"I'm happy we did it - it definitely saved us some cash so Adam could get me a real engagement ring!"

Congratulations guys!
