It's the time of year when we're enjoying a pre-Christmas tipple while frantically rushing around buying last minute gifts or making fools of ourselves at the office party.

But if you think your antics of Christmases past are bad, the following stories will make yours look tame in comparison. Enjoy...

Over on Reddit, employees have been discussing their very worst Christmas party stories, including heckling the boss, puking on a dog and blacking out. And some of these stories are seriously cringe-worthy.

When one worker was invited to his Christmas party at a swanky hotel, with a banquet, entertainment and an open bar, he knew he'd have to drive home so decided to take things easy.

So when his manager offered him a colleague's room that was now free, he decided to take up the enticing offer after all.

This Reddit user found himself in an awkward position (

However, at the end of the night, after "slurring his goodbyes", the Reddit user found that his room wasn't empty after all.

"There's a pair of socks and a backpack on the floor," he explains. "I flip on the lights and who do I see? SalesGuy who "didn't show up" from earlier - asleep in his bed with his wife snoring and stirring at the sudden introduction of lamp to REM sleep.

Another person told a cautionary tale of getting too drunk at the work do, in case it was used as a warning to others.

'Drunk girl' as one of his colleagues was known, would heckle the CEO during his speech and spill her beer everywhere before being escorted out by her friend.

"Every year the next Monday," they added, "pictures of her would circulate in email, including the puking in the ice bucket picture that ALWAYS happened...shortly followed up by a company wide apology. She eventually sobered up and stopped that s**t."

A third user recalled an apparently forgettable experience involving a co-workers dog and too much alcohol.

"I am told that I puked on my co-workers dog once. I don't remember. I drink less now," they warned.

And one young apprentice learnt not to trust their line manager when an attempt to steal wine went VERY wrong.

A cautionary tale (

"He noticed boxes of wine under the tables in this empty restaurant and proceeded to load the elevator up with 6 boxes (36 bottles of wine in total) when a porter for the hotel caught him and we both got chucked out.

"We slept in my car and had a pretty rough day at work the next day. I still struggle to see the logic on how he had planned to walk out of the hotel with 36 bottles of wine."

While another wary Reddit user spoke of one Christmas party where the managing director had to "ask the hotel to close the bar for an hour as everyone was getting too drunk and it was only 8pm", they also recalled some humorous incidents at previous events.

He added: "Previous years have involved the police being called because someone from our company was running round the hotel stark naked and then in the MD's presentation he showed off the bill for damages from the previous years party as some sort of trophy (all while his mum and dad who always attend the presentation part of the party were in front of him)."
