People Are Making Glazed Mini Donut Cereal And It's Everything We Want

These really bring out the Homer Simpson in us.

Glazed. Sugar dusted. Jammy centred. Much like Homer Simpson, we don't discriminate when it comes to donuts - we appreciate them in all varieties and sizes.

That said, there is something irresistibly cute about the latest donutty trend sweeping our Insta feeds, which is mini donut cereal.

Yep, that's dinky (usually ring-shaped) donuts topped with high-shine icing and colourful sprinkles, served in a bowl.

The milk part is, of course, optional - we'll take an ice-cold glass of the stuff on the side to save getting these spongey creations getting all soggy, please and thanks.

Valentina Mussi, the brains behind Insta account Sweet Portfolio (@sweetportfolio) is one foodie who's given the trend a whirl.

Her little baked donuts are flavoured with a hint of vanilla dipped into a pink glaze, and are based on a recipe by cookery-themed IG account @easyasapplepie.

Valentina describes the micro donuts as "super easy to make and healthier than fried ones!"

She added: "I didn't add milk because I carefully made two dozen little donuts and didn't want to ruin them - they came out so spongey and cute.⁣"

Recipe (by @easyasapplepie):

  1. Pre-heat your oven to 350°F.
  2. Add all of your ingredients to a mixer starting with your dry ones and mix until fully incorporated. Add dough to a piping bag or ziplock and pipe onto a donut mold. Bake for 8 minutes.
  3. Dip the donuts in the glaze while they are still warm and top with sprinkles.
  4. Let them cool down for 30 minutes and enjoy!⁣

If that isn't enough donut cereal inspo' for you, check out this delicious-looking lot, featuring varieties topped with a chocolate glaze and edible silver sprinkles.

Mmm. Just off to do a Homer and inhale a big bowlful of these.
