They were the go-to shoe for any millennial girl who wanted to make a big fashion statement - and now they have made a comeback.

Kickers are hot property once more and just like super baggy boyfriend jeans, chunky hair highlights and bucket hats, they have made us feel very nostalgic.

Who remembers begging their mum to let them buy a pair so you could wear them to school? Kickers were more than just a pair of shoes, they were a status symbol and nothing said "queen of the playground" more than stomping around with the chunky Kicker soles.

Kickers first gained popularity in Britain in the late 1980s. In the BBC documentary I Love 1980, the pandemonium Kickers caused was featured. The shoes became so popular that children queued outside the high street shops until 10 o'clock at night waiting for deliveries and when the delivery did arrive, stock would be gone in a flash.

The flower-shaped tag also became a collectable item and many children did not believe their Kickers were real unless they had the tag.

The Kick Hi became the most recognisable and popular version of the Kicker shoe, largely due to the Brit Pop scene led by artists such as Noel Gallagher and Jarvis Cocker in the '90s.

By the start of the next decade, Ms Dynamite, So Solid Crew and Rodney P gave the Kick Hi a fresh new rebrand.

Kickers relaunched their site in 2012 for the next generation of Kickers wearers and now the company has turned their attention to conquering the world of influencers and social media users.

There's a huge range of brand new women's Kickers available on their website, with many of the designs taking inspiration from the classic '90s shoes.

The women's Kilo Loafer has the instantly recognisable chunky design, with a 6cm heel and the iconic Red and green Kickers tags.

Or you could opt for a more practical version - the Lennon Lo unisex Kickers. They have a chunky sole profile which truly is peak-90s fashion, and is durable and hard-wearing.

You can also grab a brand new pair of women's Kick Hi Classic boots and live your best '90s life reliving what was arguably the best decade for fashion. The boots have the same silhouette as Kickers' most popular version from their heyday.

We can't get enough of the '90s!
