Heatwaves are all well and good, but what happens when you can barely make it to the end of the street without the dreaded 'chub rub' taking hold?

Thigh chafing is a common (yet rarely talked-about) affliction that only really came to the fore in the summer of 2018 when British temperatures reached a record high and Pretty Little Thing launched their now-infamous 'anti chafing bands'.

Since then, dozens of products claiming to fix the problem have cropped up - from creams to talcs and roll-on balms.

The latest item to sweep the internet is this pair of rather unsexy but oh-so-practical anti-chafing knickers from Chaffree.

The anti-chafe, anti-sweat knickers come in four colours (

They're big, they're silky, they come in a range of unflattering nude tones - and they're currently racking up hundreds of five-star reviews on Amazon. Bridget Jones, eat your heart out.

One reviewer called the £18.99 briefs "an absolute godsend in this weather", adding: "Although they look as though they would be hot to wear, the coolmax material really does keep you feeling cool and fresh all day.

"I'm on my feet all day walking round in an environment with no air con that heats up I like a greenhouse, but these keep me cool and really do stop changing completely.

"I walk to and from work and can wear skirts without tights again."

Another wrote: "I was embarrassed I needed to search for this item, but our continuing heat wave and wearing tights had left me in extreme discomfort" (we feel you, Amazon reviewer).

She added: "Once tried and now converted. Give them a try. Overcome unnecessary embarrassment. You will not be disappointed."

Their beauty lies in the extra-long cotton gusset which runs all the way down the inside of your leg, for comfort and 'sweat control', while the material's anti-bacterial properties claim to provide relief from stomach sweating and thigh chafing.

Seamless and lightweight, they promise to deliver a 'second skin feel' while keeping you cool and comfy in the heat thanks to temperature-regulating technology.

They come in UK size 6 to 36 (US 2 to 32) and are made from machine-washable cotton and silicone.

Chaffree claims their undies are so versatile that "everyone from ultramarathon runners to women dealing with hot flushes during menopause now swear by them".
