This Gym Uses CBD Patches To Improve Your Workout

If you've ever smoked a doobie in a dingy Amsterdam coffee shop - you probably have a slightly skewed vision of the health benefits of cannabis. Without the mind-altering effects of THC (or hacking up a lung the following morning), the CBD compound of the cannabis leaf is it's more chilled out cousin - and no it can't get you high. And Gymbox has created the UK's first recovery class which incorporates the use of CBD oil.

If you love 'Legs, Bums and Tums', are addicted to spin or just can't miss a Pilates session - you've still never tried anything like this before.

The first of its kind in the UK, Cannabliss is ideal for those who do office jobs and then work out hard (and let's face it, if you put your body through those extremes on a daily basis you're probably injured too - you're the perfect candidate).

Each class member is handed a CBD patch to wear. Again: this is not about getting high or getting buzzed. But as part of the rehabilitation class the compound will help reduce inflammation, ease anxiety and provide a sense of well-being.

"The Cannabliss class incorporates exercises and mobility movements akin to a yin yoga class, as well as drawing on the growing trend of using CBD oils to relieve everyday stress and anxiety," explains Hannah Curtis Nunn, Group Fitness Manager at Gymbox.

"Members are provided with a CBD patch to apply to their arms which delivers the natural, potent oil osmotic-ally into the body, providing anti-inflammatory relief to the wearer. This combined with the stretches and mobility exercises helps to relieve those niggly aches and pains that most desk workers experience."

Gabriela Cunha Viana, Studio Creative & Events Manager at Gymbox spoke exclusively to Pretty52 saying: "Aside from the inclusion of a CBD patch in a muscular rehabilitation class, the class also includes the use of massage balls foam rollers with instructors guiding guests through sometimes painful, yet tension-relieving exercises.

"Cannabliss relaxes and eases all tension from both body and mind. With the effect of the CBD patches you enter a relaxed state which makes it easier to give in to the uncomfortable mobility work and go deeper into stretches to get rid of any tension. The feeling you get after class is a blissful mind-body connection."

Cannabliss is part of Gymbox's 'Holistic Retreat' classes, which are designed to exercise the mind as well as the body, working on imbalances and focusing on maintenance and recovery.
