You Can Get A Job As A Christmas Wine Taster

Where do we apply?

For a lot of people, Christmas is an especially boozy time of year, with us treating ourselves to bucks fizz on the morning of the big day, sipping mulled wine when shopping at markets and glugging prosecco while mingling at parties.

But what if treating yourself to a tipple could be your job?

Well, House of Townend are looking for a Christmas Wine Taster and you could be the perfect candidate.

The Yorkshire-based wine merchants are looking for a new recruit on their team as the world's first Christmas Wine Taster!

The job entails trialling some of the best red wine out there and will have to report on the sensory experience.

You'll have to track the aromas as you go along and rate the taste, texture and length of the drink before suggesting key areas for improvement to the Innovation team.

The job is a fixed-term contract for one month and will work directly with the innovation and customer service team for red wine, providing feedback for improvements on up to six different bottles.

House of Townend specify that this role "requires perseverance, dedication, and a refined palate". Sounds like a classy person such as yourself?

They are asking for the successful candidate to meet certain criteria.

The brand are looking for someone who has a genuine passion for the Christmas holidays, committed to making their Christmas Day lunch perfect with only the best wine and well-versed in the language and art of tasting.

You can't be a Scrooge though, you have to be dedicated to finding the perfect red wine for your Christmas lunch (

There's only one space up for grabs and you'll be paid in the red wine you get to consume.

Only UK-based over 18-year-olds can apply and the application deadline is 15th December 2021, with the lucky candidate being chosen randomly and announced on 16th December 2021.

Just in time to make this year's Christmas extra special (and boozy)!

House of Townend also make sure to mention: "Please note, red wine is high in antioxidants, and drinking moderate amounts has been shown to be good for health."

Well, cheers to that!
