Little Moons Is Selling 'Fish And Chips' Mochi

Little Moons has launched a new collection of flavours inspired by summer classics including fish & chips.

Little Moons is giving their popular mochi balls a traditional British summertime twist with a brand new fish and chips flavour - and people don't know what to make of it.

The new limited edition flavour was posted on the official Little Moon's Instagram account. It is part of their "tastes of summer" collection that also includes slightly more conventional new flavours: Eton mess and candyfloss.

"Meet our most inventive mochi to date," the caption reads, adding that the unusual flavour will "transport you to the British seaside after one bite."

Each mochi ball is filled with creamy ice cream with the "flavour of salty chips with a hint of vinegar" and is studded with chocolate chips and encased in Little Moon's soft and chewy mochi dough.

While some people were totally on the fence about the new flavour, others seemed more willing to tantalise their taste buds with the salty-sweet dessert.

One user simply said: "I'm sorry but no."

While a second Instagram account replied: "I feel like I must try this."

Meanwhile, another person wrote: "Erm what? This sounds wrong on so many levels."

"Ngl these actually sound pretty good," said another potential customer.

Mochi is a traditional Japanese rice cake made with mochigome, which is a short-grain glutinous rice. It's made by pounding the rice into a paste and then moulding it into the desired shape. Mochi balls are traditionally made during the Japanese ceremony Mochitsuki.

The ice cream-infused version of the traditional dish has taken over TikTok. Little Moons was launched back in 2010 by siblings Howard and Vivien Wong, who are based in London, and the company has become hugely successful.

Little Moons are bite sized balls of sweet and chewy mochi ice cream and it is naturally gluten free.

The fish and chips mochi balls are available exclusively on the Little Moons website for £40 as part of the "tastes of summer" range. There are six flavours including three favourites: passionfruit & mango, honey roasted pistachio and creamy coconut mochi.
