It's Official: McDonald's Monopoly Is Coming Back This Year

McDonald's Monopoly is a favourite among fast food fans, giving them a chance to win free food and more from the chain with every purchase.

Now it's been confirmed that the legendary game will be returning this year, and it will be 'bigger than ever' with more chances to win.

A spokesperson for the chain announced it will be returning this September or October, but the exact date is not yet known.

News of the return of McDonald's Monopoly comes hot on the heels of the launch of McDonald's Rewards, which will reward regular customers for spending.

In an email to customers today, the spokesperson said: "We hope you love our new rewards scheme as much as you love our popular Monopoly promotion, which will return later in the summer with an even bigger prize pool and increased chances of winning."

Today's news also coincides with the launch of some exciting new menu items, including halloumi fries, which are now available for the first time ever.

If this sounds right up your street, you can tuck into a regular portion of six for £2.49 or a 'sharing' portion for £6.49.

However, the fries are not the only new addition to the McDonald's menu.

From today, you can also get your hands on the Spicy Spanish Stack, which is made of two beef patties, chilli cheddar, red onion, spicy tomato sauce and lettuce - all served together in a paprika bun.

Then there's the Chicken Fiesta, which comes in a paprika bun that's toasted with chilli too, and is made of a crispy chicken fillet, chorizo, chilli cheddar, spicy tomato sauce, red onion and lettuce.

If these burgers sound like a little bit of you, they will set you back £5.39 each.

There's also a new summery drink, the berry and citrus punch, which costs £2.29 for a regular and £2.61 for a large.

Sadly, however, if you're a fan of one of McDonald's cheaper staples – including the 99p cheeseburger – today does spell bad news as its price has been increased to £1.19.

The chain explained that it's one of a number of items affected by the rising cost of living.

The other items affected will also go up by a minimum of 10p and increase by a maximum of 20p.

McDonald's said of the price hikes: "Some prices remain unaffected and some will continue to vary across our restaurants.

"We understand that any price increases are not good news, but we have delayed and minimised these changes for as long as we could."
