Greggs Is Launching A Vegan Sausage, Bean and 'Cheese' Melt Next Week

Greggs Is Launching A Vegan Sausage, Bean and 'Cheese' Melt Next Week

Lunchtimes are sorted.

Greggs has expanded their range of vegan products, with another classic menu item going meat-free next week.

After the bakery introduced a vegan version of their iconic sausage rolls (with many people choosing to chow down on the meat-free alternative) and their steak-free steak bakes, Greggs has now announced the arrival of a Vegan Sausage, Bean and CheeZe melt.

And it's an absolute bargain at just £1.60 a slice.

Designed to mirror some of the iconic features of the Sausage, Bean and Cheese Melt, the vegan friendly version is also wrapped in layers of golden puff pastry. But instead of the classic filling, it’s loaded with delectable pieces of vegan sausage, grated original and mozzarella flavour vegan cheeZe, and, of course, tasty baked beans.

Announcing the new menu item on Instagram, Greggs wrote: “The name doesn’t roll off the tongue, but your tastebuds will love it!

“Satisfying and fulfilling, sausage and beany, just like the OG. It’s a tasty vegan mouthful!”

The vegan alternative will be available in stores from 5th August – and already, vegans are keen to try the newest addition to Greggs’ oeuvre, flooding the comments with excitement.

“The day I’ve been waiting for!” one person wrote, while another said: “Fabulous!”

“You absolute belters,” a third said, while a fourth added: “Legit the best news ever.”

Others said they were keen for Greggs to expand their vegan menu even further.

“A morning vegan sausage bap with an oat milk coffee would round off this year nicely!” one person wrote, while another simply said: “More vegan, please.”

Meat-free alternatives are becoming increasingly popular as more and more people are turning their back on traditional diets.

The UK Vegan Society reported their numbers have ‘quadrupled’ between 2014 and 2018, with ‘Veganuary’ becoming an increasingly popular endeavour at the beginning of the year.

It is also thought that 31 per cent of Brits are now choosing to eat less meat – so we can imagine the vegan Sausage, Bean and CheeZe melt will go down a treat whether you’re a carnivore or totally meat-free.
