Zac Efron To Star In New 'Scooby-Doo' Film
Zoinks! Zac Efron has picked up a role in the new Scooby-Doo movie, and you can probably already guess who he will be playing.
The High School Musical heartthrob is set to portray Fred alongside Amanda Seyfried who will be Daphne.
Titled Scoob, the new flick will reportedly arrive in cinemas in May 2020, and a number of other stars have been announced already.
Will Forte will be Shaggy, Gina Rodriguez will play Velma, and Tracy Morgan will be Captain Caveman. Frank Welker will reprise the voice of the beloved dog, Scooby-Doo.
Welker was voice-over for the pooch in the 1969-1970 series Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!
The movie comes courtesy of Warner Bros. Animation Group, meaning Scoob will be animated rather than a live-action remake of the children's cartoon.
Tony Cervone is directing the production, with Chris Columbus, Pam Coats and Allison Abbate producing. Executive producers are Charles Roven, Richard Suckle, Dan Povenmire and Adam Sztykiel, reports Deadline.
The Scooby-Doo franchise has already been turned into several movies, including Scooby-Doo in 2002 and Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed back in 2004, starring the likes of Linda Cardellini and Sarah Michelle Gellar.
Zac is one busy man right now, as he's set to take on the main role in another flick centred on notorious murderer Ted Bundy Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile will arrive in cinemas and on Netflix late this year.
The Greatest Showman actor will also be appearing in The Beach Bum alongside Matthew McConaughey.
Meanwhile, Amanda's most recent smash hits include Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again - the second movie in the Mamma Mia franchise.
Neither Zac nor Amanda have commented on their new roles in the new Scooby-Doo flick.
