This is not a drill: You season 3 has officially started production.

Yes, the creepy serial killer series only dropped its second series on Boxing Day 2019, yet writers are already working hard to satisfy fans' insatiable appetite for the grisly but stylish show.

Show writer Sera Gamble was the first to share the exciting news that the team at You HQ are already working on the next instalment.

"We've started work on season 3. Just thought you'd want to know," she wrote alongside a photo of a door mat baring the words 'hello You' with the show's logo. P.S where can we get one of those?

Naturally, fans were buzzing at the news ("OMG IM SO EXCITED" and "Cant wait to see the story you guys cook up," wrote fans), while some gave some suggestions for what they'd like to see in the script.

Many fans were begging to see more of Robin Joy, who played the real Will Bettelheim in season 2.

Will was the first would-be victim of Joe's that the serial killer actually spared - though it remains to be seen if this decision will come back to haunt him. (We have a feeling it will).

"Please give Robin Lord Taylor the major part in season 3," said a fan.

"Please bring the real Will, Robin Lord Taylor back in season 3  Robin is a phenomenal actor," said another.

Season 2 of You sees stalker serial killer Joe Goldberg (played by Penn Badgely) attempt to start his new life in Los Angeles, escaping his heinous crimes from the first series - namely, murdering his girlfriend and a load of other people.

It follows Joe as he falls in love again, once more becoming unhealthily obsessed, this time with aspiring chef Love Quinn.

However, the season had a pretty massive twist at the end of the show that left people's jaws on the floor.

The Netflix show's dramatic finale saw Joe, played by Penn Badgley, discovering that it isn't just him who is a serial killer and a stalker, but his girlfriend Love, too.

It all comes to light after his ex Candace traps Joe in his murder box and invites Love to come and see him and his dead neighbour Delilah for herself. But then Love decides to kill Candace to save Joe.

It's not yet known when season 3 will air, but considering there was a 14 month gap between the first and second series, we're estimating fans will have to wait until April 2021 to see Joe back in action.

Plot-wise, there's no news about what season 3 will entail, but we last saw murderous couple Joe and Love move out to the suburbs, while the finale moments saw the bookstore owner spying on what looks like his next victim.

'You' season 2 is likely to explore Joe's next victim, aka the woman on the sun lounger (
Netflix)

Slowly creeping behind his garden fence, Joe says he'll be seeing his new neighbour "soon" as viewers suddenly notice a woman reading a book on a sun lounger.

Fans were quick to speculate about the identity of the woman on the sun lounger and some suggested it could be Joe's abandoning mother, a relationship that was explored in season 2.

Is it too soon to count down the days?
