If you're in need of a new feel-good movie, Netflix has you covered.

Yep, the latest original film from the streaming platform is a dance comedy, Work It - and it's giving us serious Step Up / Pitch Perfect vibes.

Centring around lead protagonist, Quinn Ackerman (Sabrina Carpenter) - a determined schoolgirl who is keen to get into top university, Dukes, at any cost - the show will follow her journey to get extra curricular credit by dancing her heart out.

Written by Alison Peck, directed by Laura Terruso and produced by none-other-than Alicia Key, the show follows Quinn as she pulls together a dance squad made up of "diamonds in the rough," with the ambition of beating the top group in her school's dance competition.

She'd originally auditioned to be part of their entourage, The Thunderbirds, but after being rejected because she...errr.. couldn't dance, she takes matters into her own hands, and decides to create a team to beat them at their own game.

The movie stars lots of big names, including comedian and YouTuber Liza Koshy, To All The Boys star Jordan Fisher and Keiynan Lonsdale (The Flash, Love Simon).

Drew Ray Tanner (Riverdale) and Michelle Buteau (Always Be My Maybe, First Wives Club) are also in the flick.

The trailer alone is evidence enough that this is a film for us. For one, it starts with a Quinn saying a prayer to Queen Beyonce, asking for her to "make [her] feet swift" and her "moves have swagger" in the upcoming competition.

What follows next is lots of dancing, new friendships and hints of romance (between Quinn and Jake - aka John Ambrose from To All The Boys).

No new team has ever won the school championship before, but could this team of misfits be the first?!

Work It lands on Netflix on August 7th.
