Good news for Sweet Magnolias fans - the show has just been confirmed for a second season!

Joanna Garcia Swisher (who plays Maddie Townsend), Brooke Elliott (Dana Sue) and Heather Headley (Helen Decatur) are all set to return for the mega popular Netflix series, which was released earlier this year.

Fans have been asking for a second season - and now Netflix has delivered (

In case you need a recap on the first season, it's based on the Sherryl Woods books of the same name and follows three best mates who live in the small, quaint town of Serenity, near Charelston, South Carolina.

Featuring 10 episodes, the series follows Maddie, Helen and Dana Sue as they live their dream of opening a spa together, all the while navigating divorce, careers and family life.

Justin Brueing appears as Cal Maddox, Maddie's love interest, Chris Klein stars as Bill Townsend, Maddie's ex-husband who has left his family for his pregnant mistress (played by Jamie Lynn Spears) and Carson Rowland as Tyler "Ty" Townsend, Maddie's son.

When the show dropped on Netflix earlier this year, fans were loving it, with many calling it a grown-up version of Gilmore Girls.

Jamie Lynn Spears also starred in the first season (

And after ploughing through all 10 episodes in one sitting, viewers have been calling for a second season for months. Well, it seems Netflix has listened and delivered!

Sheryl J. Anderson has been named as showrunner and executive producer, meanwhile Dan Paulson and Sherryl Woods will also executive produce.

And fans are so happy the show will return. One wrote on Twitter: "This is fantastic to hear, absolutely loved season 1."

Meanwhile another added: "I'm so excited for season 2! Ready for the answers to those cliffhangers!"

We reckon the cast are probably pretty chuffed as well. After all, Chris Klein previously told The Sun: "I, for one, really, really hope that we get that opportunity. Selfishly because I want to see what happens to Bill Townsend."

Meanwhile Jamie Lynn revealed to The Hollywood Reporter: "If Sweet Magnolias got a Season 2, that would be a dream job."

While there's currently no information on when production might begin on the second season - or which other cast members are returning - we'll update you with more as it comes...
