The surviving members of the Banks family, including the original Aunt Viv played by Janet Hubert, will return on 19 November.

The special will air on HBO Max however there is currently no airdate for the UK.

The trailer starts with a vlog introduction from Will and a behind the scenes snap of the returning cast members including Alfonso Ribeiro, Tatyana Ali, Karyn Parsons, Joseph Marcell, Daphne Maxwell Reid and DJ Jazzy Jeff.

The cast reunite on the set of the Banks family mansion and reminisce about the good times they had filming the beloved sitcom.

There are snippets of interviews with the cast, behind the scenes from when the show was in production and what looks like a live performance by Will Smith and DJ Jazzy Jeff especially for the reunion.

James Avery, who played Philip Banks aka Uncle Phil passed away in 2013.

Inspired by Will Smith's own life, the then new actor and rapper starred as a fictionalised version of himself - a street-smart teenager born and raised in West Philadelphia (just like the opening song tells us). Will's character is sent to move in with his wealthy uncle and aunt in their Bel Air mansion where he hilariously encounters several culture clashes with his cousins and new school friends.

The show proved to be a huge hit when it was on the air between 1990 and 1996. Since then it has become a fixture of 90s culture and nostalgia, gaining many young fans in the years since it ended. The reunion celebrates the show's 30th anniversary.

In other Fresh Prince related news, a gritty drama reboot of the show is in the works. Executive produced by Will Smith and set to air on NBC's streaming network Peacock, the official description for the reboot reads: "Set in modern-day America, Bel-Air is a serialised one-hour dramatic analogue of the '90s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air that leans into the original premise: Will's complicated journey from the streets of West Philadelphia to the gated mansions of Bel-Air.

With a reimagined vision, Bel-Air will dive deeper into the inherent conflicts, emotions and biases that were impossible to fully explore in a 30-minute sitcom format, while still delivering swagger and nods to the original show."

We can't wait!
