When the Love Island contestants were finally announced last night, we all scoured the list of new faces, trying to work out who could win - also checking for any ex-boyfriends, obviously.

But if you thought one islander in particular looked very familiar, you wouldn't be alone. Paige Turley - who is also Lewis Capaldi's ex-girlfriend - was actually on Britain's Got Talent back in 2012.

Paige, from West Lothian in Scotland, made it all the way to the semi-finals of the talent show eight years ago.

In a pre-villa interview, Paige said: "When I was 14 I was on Britain's Got Talent as a solo singer and I got to the semi finals.

"I sang Skinny Love by Birdy."

Paige was a hit with the BGT judges, with Amanda Holden predicting she had a "bright future ahead".

Meanwhile, Simon Cowell said he "really liked" the 22-year-old.

"I think you are absolutely fantastic," he said while giving feedback.

"You have a really interesting and unique voice, I really, really like you."

Paige - who is heading into the villa with 11 other islanders - also explained how she once dated Lewis Capaldi.

It's been reported that Paige is the inspiration behind Lewis' hit song, 'Someone You Loved', but she has explained the pair are still mates.

"Lewis Capaldi is my ex boyfriend. We went out when we were younger, I was about 17 or 18," she said.

"We were together for about a year. It ended really amicably and we're still pals."

The new series will begin on Sunday at 9pm (

This year's Love Island contestants also include 20-year-old twins, Eva and Jess Gale as well as Rochelle Humes' little sister, Sophie Piper.

As well as the contestants, there'll be another new face this year - 34-year-old Laura Whitmore who is taking over from Caroline Flack.

She'll join boyfriend, Iain Sterling, 31, who does the hilarious voiceover for the show.

The winter series of Love Island is taking place in South Africa and will begin this Sunday, 12th January at 9pm on ITV2.
