New series Snowpiercer has just landed on Netflix - and we're already hooked to the dystopian thriller.

From the makers of Academy Award winning film, Parasite, the futuristic show, titled Snowpiercer, is set seven years after the world has turned into a frozen wasteland and stars Jennifer Connelly (A Beautiful Mind) and Daveed Diggs (Hamilton, Black-ish).

Based on the original film from 2013, the series sees the last remaining humans living onboard a train, which has 1,001 carriages and circles the globe perpetually.

Despite being the only humans to survive, there's unrest among the inhabitants. Inside, they have been split into a class system, which is teetering on the edge of exploding into a full on revolution.

Netflix explains "the politics of survival [will] play out in this riveting television adaptation".

The show is produced by Bong Joon Ho who won Best Director at this year's Oscars for his incredible South Korean film, Parasite. The movie also won Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay.

As well as a gripping plot, there's an impressive cast, too. Alongside Jennifer Connelly and Daveed Diggs stars Alison Wright (The Americans), Mickey Sumner (Frances Ha, Battle of the Sexes), Susan Park (Ghostbusters), Iddo Goldberg (Peaky Blinders, The Zookeeper's Wife), Katie McGuinness (Dirty Filthy Love), Lena Hall (Hedwig and the Angry Inch), Annalise Basso (Bedtime Stories), Sam Otto (Jellyfish), Roberto Urbina (Narcos), Sheila Vand (Argo) and Jaylin Fletcher (Saturday Church).

Phew, what a line up!

Some viewers have already started watching the show on Netflix, with one tweeting: "I'm loving this new Snowpiercer series on Netflix."

While another said: "The first two episodes of #Snowpiercer are excellent. Jennifer Connolly is amazing as always."

Other fans have taken to Twitter begging Netflix to hurry up and release more episodes.

While the first two landed on the streaming platform today, 25th May, following episodes will air each week from 1st June.
