There's a new show on its way to Netflix and if you're a Peaky Blinders fan, we've got a feeling you're going to love it.

Bill Skarsgård, who played Pennywise the clown in It, will star as Swedish criminal Clark Olofsson in the six-part adaptation of his autobiography, Clark.

Also referred to as a "celebrity gangster" the series will focus on the notorious gangster's criminal career and how, in the 1960s, he became one of the most controversial names in Swedish history.

He was convicted of several counts of drug trafficking, attempted murder, assault, theft and a number of bank robberies as well as having spent more than half of his life in prison. His crimes also left behind a trail of devastation and heartbreak.

In the 1970s, Clark also gave rise to the term 'Stockholm Syndrome' (a condition in which a victim or hostage befriends their captor) during a failed attempt at a bank robbery in Stockholm, known as the Norrmalmstorg Robbery of 1973.

Ever since, he has managed to keep his notoriety as a 'celebrity criminal'.

Speaking about his role, Bill said: "Clark Olofsson is, for good and bad, one of Sweden's most colourful and fascinating individuals.

"I accept this challenge with delight mingled with terror and think that with Jonas and Netflix in the back, we can tell a groundbreaking story with a pace and madness we may not have seen on TV before.

"Clark's life and history is so incredible and screwed that it would even make Scorsese blush."

Jonas Åkerlund will direct the series and will also serve as executive producer alongside Hans Engholm and Bill Skarsgård.

Jonas added: "Clark is the story about the most politically incorrect man, who lived the most politically incorrect life.

"These are the kinds of stories I always look for. It's an ultra-violent, witty, emotional, real and surreal biography to put a face to the name Stockholm Syndrome, but it isn't just about the Norrmalmstorg Robbery.

"It's about his whole life and what made him who he is, the truth and lies of his incredible career.

"Bill Skarsgård is the perfect match for this and he will bring the Stockholm Syndrome to the role. And Netflix is the perfect platform, they are not just the biggest streaming service, they also have the boldness to tell this incredible story."

There's currently no release date for the series as of yet, but I think we can all agree this just cannot come soon enough!
