National Treasure fans, we have big news.

Producer Jerry Bruckheimer - who worked on both National Treasure movies, has revealed that a telly series based on the franchise is in the works at Disney+.

Jerry revealed the news in an interview with Collider, explaining the show will be based on the films, with a younger cast, and will be airing on Disney+.

*And* he confirmed there's a third movie on the way, too.

"We're certainly working on one for streaming and we're working on one for the big screen. Hopefully, they'll both come together and we'll bring you another National Treasure but they're both very active," he told the publication.

"The Disney+ is a much younger cast. It's the same concept but a young cast."

While a third film was thought to be in the works for some time, it hadn't yet been confirmed. According to the producer, it's currently being written and will feature the "same cast" - which hopefully means a return for Nicolas Cage - while the TV series has a pilot script completed and an 'outline' of future episodes.

As well as a series, there's a third film coming too (

Of course, National Treasure without Nicolas Cage will look quite different, but it sounds like Disney+ will be putting its own spin on the popular franchise.

The original movies followed historian Benjamin Franklin Gates (Nicolas Cage) as he hunted for hidden treasure in every corner of America.

The films - National Treasure (2004) and National Treasure: Book of Secrets (2007) also starred Diane Kruger, Jon Voight, Sean Bean and Justin Bartha.

It's certainly an exciting time for National Treasure fans! While it's not currently confirmed when the series or the film will be released, we're hoping it will be next year at the latest.

And it looks to be a pretty busy year for Nicolas Cage (if he does return for the third movie), with the actor also reported to be playing Joe Exotic in a Tiger King TV series.

As reported by Variety, the series will focus predominantly on the gun-toting, mullet-sporting former zoo owner and his downfall, in what will be the actor's first regular television role.

*So* much good telly on the way...
