Angry viewers have taken to Twitter to slam last night's episode of Channel 4's Ugly House To Lovely House, calling it "unrealistic" and "unrelatable" due to its enormous budgets.

Last night's episode saw presenter George Clarke, an architect and builder, help online fashion business owners Lucas and Hayley transform their £655,000 1970s four-bedroom Essex home.

The couple had a very generous £260,000 budget to renovate their home, but didn't bat an eyelid when the price of the renovation ended up rising to £300,000.

George totally transformed the house, completely changing the structure, layout and interiors, so that the end result, with a large open plan kitchen, skylights, cladding and a big extension, was practically unrecognisable.

Despite the costs, George thought the couple had got a great deal, saying: "I think that's staggering value for money. You basically have a whole new house."

However, despite the home's staggering transformation, Twitter users were seriously unimpressed with the amount of money spent on the home.

They blasted the episode in a series of harsh but also quite funny tweets, questioning everything from the end design to the budget.

One viewer wrote: "Sometimes I think people just go on this programme to show how much wealth they have, why pay 655k on a house that isn't suitable in the first place, then throw another 300k at it", while another wrote "Next week, He makes tie-dye t-shirts, and she reads palms, their budget is £1,650,000. Will this average couple mange to stick to their strict budget??"

However, other Twitter users thought last week's episode was relatable compared to other episodes, with one writing: "this is more relateable! not like last weeks couple who had £150k & accidently went over budget by £200k! Who does that?! I literally had to raid my 4 year olds piggy bank the other day to buy myself a crunchie ! (sic)"
