Vicar of Dibley was back on our screens yesterday evening, as Dawn French reprised her role as Geraldine Granger for a special Vicar of Dibley In Lockdown series.

And fans couldn't stop praising last night's episode, as Geraldine discussed the importance of the Black Lives Matter movement, before taking a knee.

You can watch a clip below:

The special series sees Geraldine - helped by Hugo Horton (James Fleet) alongside some of the local primary school children - discussing the most important topics of 2020.

BBC explained: "During lockdown, post lockdown and pre-another-lockdown, Geraldine has been writing and delivering monthly sermons to her parishioners via Zoom...when she can make it work.

"... The Vicar discusses all the important topics, including how it's never a good idea to let Owen Newitt cut your hair, or make home-made wine.

"The very dearly departed Alice Tinker is also still an important presence in the village, with some residents still looking for lost buttons and the arrival of decimalisation."

Discussing the movement, Geraldine said: "Like a lot of people all over the world, this last week I've been thinking about Black Lives Matter and the horror show that was the murder of George Floyd.

"Now this is tricky for us in Dibley because we're not the most diverse community, but I don't think it matters where you're from, it matters that you do something about it, because Jesus would, wouldn't he?

"And I'm aware that all lives matter obviously, but until all lives matter the same, we're doing something very wrong. So I think we need to focus on justice for a huge chunk of our countrymen and women who seem to have a very bad, weird deal from the day they're born."

Geraldine then heads over to the village notice board, adding: "I think in Dibley perhaps we should think about taking down some of these old notices and perhaps we put up one like this instead" as she removes an old poster and replaces it with one reading Black Lives Matter.

Geraldine can then be seen taking the knee in front of the poster. And fans of the show couldn't stop praising the tribute, with one person tweeting: "GERALDINE GRANGER TOOK THE KNEE! Excellent work @Dawn_French This Vicar of Dibley episode is so lovely, so heartwarming and so poignant."

While another added: "Well done @Dawn_French. You beautiful human being #VicarOfDibley#BLM."

"I feel like we should put anyone who doesn't understand #BLM in front of this week's Vicar of Dibley in lockdown. Because with @Dawn_French explaining it, you can't fail to get it," added another.
