The Umbrella Academy fans, we have brilliant news!

The Netflix show has been renewed for a third season and filming will begin next year.

The news was announced this afternoon, with all the main cast - including Ellen Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, Justin H. Min, Ritu Arya, and Colm Feore - all set to reprise their roles.

There'll be 10, one-hour episodes and the filming will kick off in February in Toronto, Canada.

Fans will know that Season 2 of the popular show aired earlier this year in July. The series - which is based on the comic book series of the same name by Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá - follows a group of adopted siblings who reunite to solve the mystery behind their father's death.

In the second season's finale, the siblings returned from the 1960s to the end of 2019, and found they'd messed with their present day timeline. Travelling back to an alternate universe, they discovered their father and brother Ben were still alive.

It was also revealed that The Umbrella Academy's father Reginald Hargreeves, had created a rival group, called The Sparrow Academy.

And the show's creator, Steve Blackman, has already hinted at what the third instalment might have in store, explaining he hopes the siblings will be able to work things out with Reginald, as well as exploring more of his story.

He said: "If you look carefully, he's our Hargreeves, but he looks a little different. It would be a good guess if we get another season that they have a chance to try to work out their issues.

"They did try in season two to some extent, but obviously that Hargreeves knew nothing about them. And you know, this Hargreeves is an older man, but they have a chance to sort of talk to him again, and hopefully they do better than they did in season two.

"Trying to understand their origin is one of the themes we are going to address next year. The first season was meet the family. Season two was get to know the family. Season three is, who are we and where did we come from? What are we as superheroes? [That] is really a story I'd love to think about more in season three."

Sounds like it will be just as juicy! More to follow...
