A teaser trailer for Season 2 of The Umbrella Academy has just been released by Netflix - *and* the streaming platform has also confirmed the release date.

It certainly looks like the next instalment of the show is going to be a corker...

The show, based on comic book series of the same name by Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá, amassed a serious following when it first launched - in fact Netflix revealed 45 million households watched it.

Therefore it's likely a hell of a lot of people have been waiting for this moment and it's not disappointed.

Season 1 of the dystopian superhero series was action-packed, so we're expecting similar things of the next instalment - something that now looks likely.

For those that haven't seen Season 1, we can summarise, but to be honest it's a pretty confusing-sounding show so you're going to need to catch up if you want to watch the next season when it lands on 31st July.

But here is a summary regardless and for those that need a little refresher...

We saw adoptee children, Number Five (Aidan Gallagher), Vanya (Ellen Page), Allison (Emmy Raver-Lampman), Luther (Tom Hopper), Diego (David Castañeda), Ben (Justin H. Min) and Klaus (Robert Sheehan,) of a billionaire industrialist reunite years after going their separate ways - thanks to their dysfunctional family life.

Bringing in a supernatural spin - this is based on comics after all - the Hargreaves siblings had super powers and they were also just casually facing an impending apocalypse.

Adding another layer of intrigue, the family were also trying to uncover the mystery of their billionaire adopted dad's death.

They weren't great at working as a team it turned out, constantly locking horns and the show ends with the apocalypse - thanks to the moon falling down. Say whattt? We know - we told you you need to watch it, as it sounds mental.

In the disastrous season finale, they agreed to go back in time to try and rectify their mistakes and prevent the apocalypse - which is where the second season comes in - them attempting to stop the world being obliterated.

The Umbrella Academy Season 2 is coming to Netflix on 31st July.
