Fans of Netflix's hit show The Umbrella Academy have been getting excited over the second season's release, but for entirely different reasons than expected.

Viewers of the superhero series are getting hot under the collar for ghost character Ben, and we can't blame them to be fair.

Though fan favourite character Ben Hargreeves, played by actor Justin H Min, died before the series even began, he has appeared - in his ghostly form - during the second season and fans have been declaring their love for the character on Twitter.

One fan went so far as to ask for Ben's number:

Meanwhile, another professed their love for the character with lots of heart emojis:

And others spoke of their love for the character too:

Ben, or Number Six as he was known to the Umbrella Academy, was one of 43 children born on the same day to mothers who previously didn't appear to be pregnant. The popular character possessed the ability to summon eldritch creatures through a portal to his own body and his death was one of the reasons why the Academy disbanded.

Though mystery surrounds the key character's death, the second season finally gave us an insight into what might have happened to Number Six.

A flashback scene at his funeral reveals, through Ben's father's eulogy, that he dies on one of the group's first missions.

"Despite years of training and weeks of preparation you allowed Number Six to die on this mission," Reginald Hargreeves says.

"The Umbrella Academy has failed one of their own, the consequences of which are dire. Hold on to this feeling, children - let it fester in your hearts. So there is never a next time."
