Netflix has released the new trailer for Fyre - The Greatest Party That Never Happened, a new documentary centring on the famous unravelling of the luxury musical festival that made headlines in 2017.

Created by Billy McFarland and rapper Ja Rule, Fyre was supposed to be taking place on a private island in the Bahamas a couple of summers ago, being pushed as a luxurious, star-studded musical festival.

Guests were promised supermodels, A-List singers and artists plus extravagant amenities, however the reality was anything but.

And now the streaming giant is giving its subscribers and exclusive look behind the scenes to delve into what caused its descent into chaos.

The documentary comes courtesy of director Chris Smith of Emmy Award nominated documentary Jim & Andy: The Great Beyond.

And viewers will learn exactly what happened from the actual festival organisers behind Fyre.

Here's the official synopsis: "An exclusive behind the scenes look at the infamous unraveling of the Fyre music festival. Created by Billy McFarland and rapper Ja Rule, Fyre was promoted as a luxury music festival on a private island in the Bahamas featuring bikini-clad supermodels, A-List musical performances and posh amenities.

"Guests arrived to discover the reality was far from the promises. Chris Smith, the director behind the Emmy Award Nominated documentary Jim & Andy: The Great Beyond, gives a first-hand look into disastrous crash of Fyre as told by the organizers themselves."

The two-minute long trailers features celebs like Emily Ratajkowski, Bella Hadid and Hayley Baldwin, who were said to be attending the festival.

It has been suggested that some guests forked out $4,000 (£3,100) for a ticket.

The event was reportedly cancelled due to basic facilities including a lack of running water, with guests complaining about the standards of food and drink.

On-site footage in the trailer will give viewers a true look at what Fyre was like in reality.

Fyre - The Greatest Party That Never Happened will drop on Netflix on 18th January.
