The much-anticipated new drama Traces, starring Line of Duty star Martin Compston finally dropped on TV on Monday and people loved it so much they binged it all in one sitting.

We knew if Line of Duty was anything to go by, Traces would be an instant hit and it sounds like the Twittersphere agrees.

While Alibi is dropping two episodes weekly on Mondays and Tuesdays, Sky and Virgin viewers have quickly realised they can download the whole lot using the box sets function.

On discovering the six-part series was so gripping, people have gone on to watch the entire series in one night - with people even admitting they'd stayed up uncharacteristically late "on a school night" because they couldn't prize themselves away from the unfolding drama.

One said: "Thought I'd have a quick look at #traces it's bloody brilliant! Watched them all".

She soon realises the fictitious study she's given to work on resembles that of her mother's death and she's driven to uncover the truth of what actually happened.

*spoiler alert* We quickly see Emma realising she cannot trust anyone and discovers her mum Marie's body was actually dismembered - brand new information to her. Why did nobody tell her?

She also discovers whilst alive, her mum was still sleeping with her dad Drew (John Gordon Sinclair), even though she was married to Emma's step-dad Jimmy, thanks to a photograph she finds.

But when Emma's best friend Skye (Jamie Marie Leary) sees the photograph of Marie and Drew in bed, she realises the bed is in fact her own mum Izzy's (Laurie Brett). Say whatttt?

Skye doesn't approve of Emma digging around in her mum's past though and next we see her threaten her with a knife.

Meanwhile, Emma is forming a relationship with Daniel (Martin Compston) whose dad Phil leaves her uneasy. He looks at her as though he knows her from somewhere and when Phil pays her a private visit she panics, taking drastic action.

Does Phil know her mum? Why does he give her the creeps? We guess we'll find out...

Traces continues Monday night on Alibi.
