New Crime Drama 'Traces' Starring 'Line Of Duty' Star Martin Compston Looks So Gripping

You can never have too many crime dramas - especially when the cast is this good.

Molly Windsor from Cheat and Line of Duty star Martin Compston is set to star in a tense new drama called Traces and we're already counting down the days until the six-part series hits our screens.

The thriller, based on an idea by renowned crime writer Val McDermid, is set to air on crime drama channel Alibi in December and we're already gripped after watching the trailer (but mainly because Martin is in it... obviously).

If this series is even a patch on Line of Duty, we can expect great things.

Traces is set in Dundee, Scotland and follows Emma Hedges, played by Molly Windsor from Cheat and Three Girls, who takes up a position as a lab assistant at The Scottish Institute of Forensic Science, whilst taking an online course that teaches forensic principles.

She soon realises the fictitious study she's given to work on resembles that of her mother's death and she's driven to uncover the truth of what really happened. Along the way she realises she cannot trust anyone.

She's helped along by Laura Fraser (The Missing, Breaking Bad) who plays Professor Sarah Gordon and Jennifer Spence (You Me Her, Travelers) who stars as Professor Kathy Torrance.

And while Martin stars in this drama, it's great to see the three lead roles are played by these fabulous actresses.

It is also directed by Amelia Bullmore (Scott & Bailey) - the ladies are really dominating this TV show.

The good news is, if you're a fan of crime dramas, it sounds like you're going to love the series.

UKTV drama commissioner Philippa Collie Cousins said when it was first commissioned: With strong female characters, this is Happy Valley meets Silent Witness, a dark and exciting show that I can't wait for us to get cracking on.

Molly Windsor also starred in 'Cheat' (
ITV)

She added: "When the idea came over from RED it genuinely made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.

"The fantastic writing talent in Amelia Bullmore coupled with Nicola Shindler and the team at RED will make Alibi's first ever drama commission something really quite special."

We're sold.
