Total Wipeout is set to make a return to our screens, after eight years since everyone's favourite obstacle course aired on telly.

This time, it'll be hosted by Take Me Out's Paddy McGuinness and a special celebrity guest.

Although the upcoming series won't feature any new episodes, it will instead be a collection of six favourite eps that originally aired between 2009 and 2012.

The show, named Total Wipeout: Freddy and Paddy Takeover, will be given a fresh revamp, with Paddy, 46, providing some hilarious, feel good commentary alongside new co-host, Freddie Flintoff, 42.

Paddy told The Sun: "Now more than ever we need to laugh at people bouncing off those big red balls. I'm so happy to be involved in bringing this classic show back."

Meanwhile, Freddie added: "I can't wait to be involved with this brilliant show and to have a laugh watching people fumble with those balls."

The cult classic water-based assault course, filmed in Argentina, sees contestants put through a series of challenges in an attempt to win £10,000.

After each challenge, a number of contestants are eliminated, whittling down to just one winner. The 20 contestants are narrowed down to 12, then to six or sometimes five, with the final three progressing to the 'Wipeout Zone'.

Paddy and Freddie are expected to provide commentary from their homes during lockdown, voicing some of the best clips from the show before it was axed in 2012.

They are taking over from where Richard Hammond and Alison Byram - who used to present the BBC One show - left off.

Although BBC hasn't yet announced when the series will air, we're hoping it will be on our screens in the next few months.

Fans are already buzzing for its return, with one writing on Twitter: "One of my favourite TV Show's, Total Wipeout, is coming back and I can't be more hyped for it."

While another said: "I've just seen that apparently Total Wipeout is coming back and honestly haven't been this excited for anything since lockdown began!"

Arggh, we agree. Telly gods - make this happen quick, please!
