Tom Hardy will star in a new film based on the life of Al Capone and it's expected to be released online in a matter of weeks.

Originally titled Fonzo, the movie has since been re-named to Capone and has been picked up by Vertical Entertainment where it will premiere digitally.

The Al Capone biopic stars Tom, 42, as the man himself, with the film following the infamous gangster in his later years during his struggle with early onset dementia.

Aged 47, the film follows Capone as he becomes haunted by the violent events of his past following nearly a decade of imprisonment.

While battling dementia and the brutal memories that are infiltrating his mind each day, Capone struggles to remember the location of millions of dollars, which he had previously hidden somewhere in his property.

The film is directed by Josh Trank - who worked on Fabulous Four - and also stars Linda Cardellini (Avengers: End Game, Dead To Me) so we've got a feeling we're in good hands.

Josh shared the trailer on Twitter, explaining the film would be premiering on 12th May. And in the clip, Tom looks almost unrecognisable, sporting a balding hair 'do and smoking on a cigar.

While Capone will premiere on 12th May in the US, a UK release date hasn't yet been announced. Although the film is being released digitally, creators are hoping it will also be shown in movie theatres once they open again.

The movie is a very different role to Tom's most recent filming.

Earlier this week, we told you how Tom is returning to present CBeebies Bedtime Stories where he will be dishing out *six* brand new tales.

The actor announced the news on Instagram, posting a shot of his garden in Richmond, south-west London, where filming took place for the new collection of stories (in line with social distancing measures, of course).

Doing his bit in this unnerving time, Tom will read a new story every day, accompanied by his French bulldog, Blue.

Dubbed 'Tom Week' the stories will start on Monday 27th April until Friday 1st May. The date of his sixth and final story is yet to be confirmed.

There's *lots* coming up for Tom fans, and we'll be tuning into it all!
