Unearthed Clip Of Louis Theroux Meeting Baboon In 'Joe Exotic' Doc Is TV Gold

Like everyone else, since we finished watching Tiger King, we've been looking for our next Joe Exotic fix.

On a desperate hunt for more cool cats and kittens, we resorted to a nine year old episode of Louis Theroux's Weird Weekends, in which the lovable documentarian meets eccentric Joe to learn about America's Most Dangerous Pets.

During the show, Louis heads to Joe Exotic's zoo as its preparing for a tornado, seeing him putting the animals in lockdown and even threaten to shoot them all if they try to escape.

Plus, he also learns about his (rather questionable) views on keeping big cats in captivity, and watches him get bitten repeatedly while playing with a cub.

But when watching the episode back, we unearthed a moment of TV gold that might just surpass his whole whacky interaction with Joe altogether.

After meeting Joe, Louis travels to Indiana, to meet Tim Stark - another star of Tiger King - who owned of a rival sanctuary, Wildlife In Need And Indeed.

There he comes face-to-face with three year old captive baboon, Tatiana, and is offered the opportunity to hold her.

Unhelpfully, Tim prefaces the suggestion by saying: "I know a lot of people who have had baboons and usually once they get past two years old, nobody messes with them because they are so strong, and can be so dangerous..."

But before a nervous looking Louis can get a word in edgeways, he's then being handed the baboon, who immediately wraps her hands and legs around him tightly.

To make matters worse, Tatiana immediately starts shrieking loudly in Louis' face, leaving a disconcerted Louis clenching his teeth and turning back to Tim for assistance.

However, Tim tells Louis that she is simply confused by his microphone, and brushes it off.

Things only get funnier from then on, as Tatiana begins to groom the BBC documentarian, pulling down his shirt to reveal his bare chest and examining it intently.

"It's quite a nice feeling," Louis tentatively ponders. "There's something about her face that's a little bit off-putting..."

As Tim tries to grab Tatiana back to free Louis, she starts to resist, and clings on to him even more tightly.

"Woah, woah," Louis shouts. "She's getting nervous when you try to take her back and it's making me nervous."

Tatiana doesn't stop there, clambering higher up and playing with Louis' hair and even the skin on his neck as he grimaces.

"I don't really want to touch her bottom, that's the other thing," Louis admits, before Tim concedes that it isn't "very appealing".

Honestly, this scene deserves *all* the awards.

Luckily, Louis survived the ordeal, and has gone on to bring us many more fascinating documentaries over the last decade.

But we have to admit, we were a little concerned for a minute, there!

Watch Louis Theroux's America's Most Dangerous Pets on BBC iPlayer and on Netflix, under the different name, Beware of the Tiger.
