There's never a dull moment on This Morning, but TV gold was witnessed on Thursday when an alpaca spat in Phillip Schofield's face - and no one found it funnier than his co-host, Holly Willoughby.

The ITV show hosts were joined in the studio by two alpacas - Spitfire and Pete - when, as the crew were preparing to go live, Pete decided to take aim at the 57-year-old presenter, spitting in his face.

When Holly and Phil went live on air, Holly took pleasure in showing the footage to audiences, giggling "It's one of the best things I've ever seen."

"It's the sound. He properly eyed you up and then just spat right in your face!," chuckled the 38-year-old, as she stood well away from the animals.

When asked what it felt like, Phil replied: "Warm and wet."

But the hilarity didn't stop there as later on, Pete once again turned to Phil, staring at him right in the face and walking towards him with menace.

While the alpaca decided to spare Phil this time, co-host Holly couldn't contain her laughs at the second close shave and dropped to the floor in hysterics.

And Holly wasn't the only one to find the whole thing too funny. Viewers took to Twitter to share their laughter.

"Watching an alpaca spit in @Schofe's face on #thismorning has made my day," LOLd one viewer.

"Those alpacas were the best start to the show I'm in hysterics with the alpacas & Holly falling to the floor laughing so much," said another.

"Im cryinggggg. Alpaca PETE spitting @Schofe Made my morning great way to start day," joked a third.

It isn't a proper episode of This Morning without giggles in the studio, and last week, the hosts were left crying with laughter after they asked viewers to send their children's "naughty drawings".

Holly and Phil could barely make their way through the ITV daytime segment as they were faced with the sketches for the first time while live on air. They are SO funny and you can see them here.

This Morning, never change.
