Season 11 of The Walking Dead has officially started filming, bosses have confirmed.
Earlier this week, producer Kevin Deiboldt tweeted that the crew had finally started shooting the new season, adding that they hope it's "worth the wait".
We're sure it will be!
"Kudos to our crew and cast (asskickers, the lot of 'em!) on the long-awaited start of filming for S11. A full (effed up) year in the works, we truly hope it's worth the wait," he wrote.

Meanwhile, the official The Walking Dead Twitter and Instagram accounts also posted an image of filming, with the caption: "The first day of the last season of #TWD" which was also reposted by showrunner Angela Kang.
It's not currently clear when Season 11 will air, but it's expected to be towards the end of this year. The eleventh season was initially announced in September 2020, with AMC confirming that the show would feature 24 episodes broadcasted over a two-year period.
Meanwhile, the final few episodes of Season 10 will drop later this month, and will see the return of Maggie Rhee (Lauren Cohen), who distanced herself from the group after her husband Glenn (Steven Yeun) was brutally killed by Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan).

Maggie appears to be hellbent on revenge as she arrives with her young son Hershel. "I told him a bad man killed him," she can be heard saying in the clip. "And he wanted to know if that man got what he deserved."

In other news, a Walking Dead movie is also in the works, focusing on Rick Grimes (played by Andrew Lincoln).

It'll pick up from when Rick exited the series along with Anne (Pollyanna McIntosh) after that helicopter ride.
Very few details have been given about the plot - with The Walking Dead boss Scott Gimple explaining last autumn that the script was still being worked on.
But, we do know it's a spin-off trilogy and considering it's dubbed the 'Rick Grimes movie', it's expected to reveal exactly what happened to Rick after he was last seen boarding the helicopter.
Being excited about this is certainly helping us come to terms with the end of TWD!
