After 10 years, The Walking Dead is set to officially end, it's been revealed.

First the Kardashians and now this. We just can't take it...

But fear not, because there are actually two spin-off shows on the way, making saying goodbye to the original series just that little less painful.

The 11th season of the zombie apocalypse show will be its last, coming to an end in 2022. However, the final instalment will be an extra long, expanded season so there is that to look forward to.

And that's not all - the Season 10 finale is expected to air in October, while Season 11 will air over two years and is expected to feature 30 episodes.

Meanwhile, AMC has already given the green light to a new spin off, starring Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride (aka favourites Daryl ad Carol) which is expected to debut in 2023.

While there are currently no details about the plot, it will be co-created by showrunner Angela Kang and former showrunner and chief content officer of The Walking Dead, Scott Gimple.

In addition, a second spin off developed by Scott Gimple is also in the works. The anthology series Tales of The Walking Dead will feature stand-alone episodes focusing on the show's characters old and new.

"It's been ten years 'gone bye;' what lies ahead are two more to come and stories and stories to tell beyond that," said Scott.

"What's clear is that this show has been about the living, made by a passionate cast, team of writer/producers, producers, and crew, bringing to life the vision put forth by Robert Kirkman in his brilliant comic - and supported by the best fans in the world.

"We have a lot of thrilling story left to tell on TWD, and then, this end will be a beginning of more Walking Dead - brand new stories and characters, familiar faces and places, new voices, and new mythologies. This will be a grand finale that will lead to new premieres. Evolution is upon us. 'The Walking Dead' lives."

This truly is the end of a very terrifying and gruesome era...
