Oh dear, Netflix viewers were not happy this weekend when they opened the streaming platform to find The Vampire Diaries had been removed.

As if things weren't bad enough RN!

Some viewers were actually in the middle of bingeing the series when it was removed from the platform last night.

One person wrote on Twitter: "What's the logic behind removing the vampire diaries, can you tell me why plz?"

While another said: "The vampire diaries being taken off Netflix is just the icing on the cake for 2020" and one added: "Lockdown 2 and Netflix has taken off The Vampire Diaries. What hell is this?"

One fan had just two episodes left before it disappeared, tweeting: "Literally had 2 episodes of the #VampireDiaries to watch and they literally took it off at 12am... they would've taken it off tonight ffs."

Savage!

Others meanwhile, are hoping to start a petition to bring it back. One wrote: "So how do I start a petition for the vampire diaries to be put back on Netflix???? Asking for a friend."

While another said: "Petition for @NetflixUK to put The Vampire Diaries back on because I don't know what I'm going to watch through lockdown."

One person has even started a petition, which you can take a look at here.

Last month, Netflix did confirm that all eight seasons of the supernatural teen drama, which stars Ian Somerhalder, Nina Dobrev and Paul Wesley, would be removed on 1st November.

However, spin off series The Originals is still on the platform and doesn't appear to be leaving anytime soon.

If you are desperate to continue watching The Vampire Diaries, it is available over on Amazon Prime Video, but sadly you will have to pay per episode or season.

This is not the news we needed right now. Sob...
