The First Official Trailer Has Dropped For New Horror 'The Turning' And It's Terrifying

The film is based on Henry James iconic 1898 novella, The Turning Of The Screw.

The official for the adaptation of Henry James' celebrated horror novel The Turn of the Screw has just dropped - and it's literally every nightmare we've ever had about being a nanny.

The Turning, the film based on the 1898 novella, is due to hit cinemas in January 2020 and we've just got the first terrifying trailer.

Starring Stranger Things' Finn Wolfhard and Black Mirror's Mackenzie Davis, the story in centred on a nanny who takes a job on an estate where she is appointed to look after two orphans with disturbing pasts.

As she delves into her role, nanny Kate realises not everything is as it seems, and the family's dark past unravels before her eyes.

The two minute 25 second trailer gives a terrifying glimpse into the haunted grounds and an introduction to the problem children nanny Kate is set with looking - killing animals, initiating spooky games and popping up out of LITERALLY NOWHERE are just some examples.

To summarise, children seem like the WORST ever.

The official synopsis reads: "For more than 100 years, a deeply haunting tale has been passed down to terrify audiences. The Turning takes us to a mysterious estate in the Maine countryside, where newly appointed nanny Kate is charged with the care of two disturbed orphans, Flora and Miles.

"Quickly though, she discovers that both the children and the house are harboring dark secrets and things may not be as they appear."

Finn Wolfhard takes on troubled boy Miles, while Mackenzie Davis plays nanny Kate who is well out of her depth. Brooklynn Prince (The Florida Project) plays seemingly innocent little girl Flora and Joely Richardson (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) also stars.

The Turning is directed by Floria Sigismondi (The Handmaid's Tale) and co-written by Chad Hayes and Carey W. Hayes (The Conjuring), while Steven Spielberg also serves as an executive producer.

The Turning hits cinemas on 24th January 2020.
