Netflix has now dropped its first clip for The Stranger - which tells the story of a family turned upside down by a lifechanging secret.

The eight-part thriller, based on the novel by Harlan Coben, focuses around dad of two, Adam Price (The Hobbit's Richard Armitage), who is left chasing the truth after a stranger in a bar drops a huge bombshell about his wife Corinne (Silent Witness' Dervla Kirwan).

The secret soon unravels as he begins to investigate the woman he thought he knew, and after confronting his wife, he finds himself walking deeper and deeper into a conspiracy that could not only greatly hurt his loved ones, but even spell the end of them...

In the trailer, that fateful scene between the stranger (Hannah John-Kamen) and Adam plays out, as she reveals the secret his wife has been hiding.

"You didn't have to stay with her you know," she tells him. "Corinne. You didn't have to stay with her when she told you she was pregnant.

"I'm sorry. Do I know you?," he asks.

To which the stranger replies: "She told you she was pregnant, right? And that's why you stayed. She told you she was pregnant and then she lost the baby."

"Who are you?," Adam asks back, but the woman simply stares blankly back at him.

"She lied Adam," she eventually says. "She made it up. She was never pregnant".

Alongside the trailer, shared on Netflix UK & Ireland's Twitter, the streaming platform teased: "She wears a cap. She knows things she probably shouldn't. She's... The Stranger".

Jheeez. We already have so many questions. Just who is this woman, and how does she know what she knows? Why did Corinne lie? And what is Adam going to do next?!

An all-star cast including Jennifer Saunders will also appear (

We'll find out soon enough, as Netflix added that the show would be arriving on 30th January.

Joining Richard Armitage, Dervla Kirwan and Hannah John-Kamen in the cast will be Siobhan Finneran (A Confession, Happy Valley, Cold feet) who will play DS Johanna Griffin, as well as Paul Kaye (Game of Thrones), Kadiff Kirwan (Call the Midwife, Black Mirror) and Jennifer Saunders (Absolutely Fabulous).

We're SO READY.
