The first teaser trailer for the highly anticipated remake of The Secret Garden has been released today - and its brought us right back to our childhoods.

The beloved flick, which is set to hit UK screens on 17 April 2020, tells the story of Mary Lennox, played by Dixie Egerickx, a prickly and unloved 10-year-old girl, born in India to wealthy British parents.

When they suddenly die, she is sent back to England to live with her uncle, Archibald Craven (Colin Firth) on his remote country estate deep in the Yorkshire moors.

Together, the cousins heal each other through their discovery of a wondrous secret garden, lost in the grounds of Misselthwaite Manor, after Mary finds a magical key.

The garden is magical place of adventure that will change their lives forever. As the grounds come to life around them, it breathes new life into them.

The film is a new take on the classic children's novel of the same name written by Frances Hodgson Burnett, brought forward to a new time period in 1947 England, on the eve of Partition in India, and in the aftermath of WW2 in Britain.

The book was previously made into a 1949 drama and a 1919 silent film.

While it was last adapted for the big screen in 1993, which was executive-produced by Francis Ford Coppola, and starred national treasure Dame Maggie Smith as Mrs. Medlock.

You bet the nineties flick defined the Pretty52 team's childhood and we most definitely had it on VHS alongside The Little Princess. Ah, nostalgia at its finest.
