Fans of two of Netflix's most popular Christmas film franchises, A Christmas Prince and The Princess Switch, have noticed an uncanny connection.
A sequel to the first The Princess Switch film, titled The Princess Switch: Switched Again, dropped on the streaming service on 19 November. Since then, it has sparked a conversation on Twitter after Queen Amber (Rose McIver) and King Richard (Ben Lamb) from The Christmas Prince made a surprise cameo in the new film. What?!

Fans are now over the moon that the two festive film franchises appear to share the same universe, creating a Netflix Christmas Cinematic Universe of sorts.
One fan said: "I- did @netflix really put the 'A Christmas Prince' characters into the coronation scene of "The Princess Switch: Switched Again?"
Another person said knowing the two films share a universe was comforting, they said: "How I sleep at night knowing 'A Christmas Prince' and 'The Princess Switch' exist in the same universe" along with a picture of Homer Simpson cuddled up in bed.
Similarly, a third fan tweeted: "THE CHRISTMAS PRINCE AND THE PRINCESS SWITCH TAKE PLACE IN THE SAME UNIVERSE".

However, some fans have also noticed that this doesn't make sense. In the first Princess Switch film Stacey (Vanessa Hudgens) is seen bingeing a Netflix movie, which happens to be... A Christmas Prince, suggesting the adventures of King Richard and Queen Amber were actually part of a... documentary?!
One person tweeted pictures from The Princess Switch and said: "How dare Netflix screw with my mind by making the couple from A CHRISTMAS PRINCE show up in THE PRINCESS SWITCH 2 even though they watched A CHRISTMAS PRINCE on Netflix in the first THE PRINCESS SWITCH???"
A second fan also questioned the relationship between the films, "I'm sorry but we need to talk about how the royal couple from A Christmas Prince have a cameo in The Princess Switch: Switched Again EVEN THOUGH in the original Princess Switch one the couples (please do not ask me which one) WATCHES A Christmas Prince ON NETFLIX," they said.
Another viewer said: "So... In the Princess Switch 1, when they watched A Christmas Prince on Netflix... It was a documentary??"

Another dedicated fan tweeted a long Twitter thread dissecting the relationship between the films. They finished their theory with: "A Christmas Prince is 100% a documentary that exists in a shared cinematic universe with The Princess Switch. They made a fictional non-fiction movie and planted it in a fiction movie as fiction. Bravo, @netflix FIN."
We are intrigued!
