If you love all things true crime cancel all your plans this week, because the third season of Inside The World's Toughest Prisons is now available to stream on Netflix.

The docuseries takes an in-depth look at some of the world's most hostile and dangerous prison environments across the world, while meeting some of their most fearful inmates, including serial killers, rapists, contract killers and drug lords.

Presented by investigative journalist Raphael Rowe, who was wrongfully imprisoned for 12 years, the show has previously looked at terrifying, gang-ruled and intimidating prison environments all over the world, from Papua New Guinea to the Ukraine.

Now the four new episodes of season three will examine new locations: Costa Rice, Colombia, Romania and Norway. The prisons shown in the episodes will vary hugely, from brutality, overcrowding and drug abuse in Costa Rica's La Reforma Prison to the "most humane prison in the world", Halden Prison, in Norway.

There will also be a look at an extremely tense prison in Colombia where the presenter was threatened on his first night, and a prison in Romania with a majority of inmates from the Roma gypsy community.

According to What's On Netflix, Raphael said he was "shocked by things" daily while filming the show.

"During filming, I'm shocked by things everyday - how prisoners threaten each other, how they open up to each other and how candid they can be with me about their lives, sharing their personal stories," he said.

"I've witnessed some horrific incidences, in one prison a murder was committed in another cell block to the one we were in, we were rushed out. It was almost like an everyday occurrence there."

You can binge-watch the third season of Inside The World's Toughest Prisons, and catch up on the first two seasons, on Netflix now.
