The new trailer for season 15 of Grey's Anatomy has finally dropped, and it has a twist that will definitely make your jaw hit the floor.

The promo introduces us to two new doctors, Chris Carmack and newcomer Alex Landi as an "Ortho God" named Link and Dr. Nico Kim, the show's first gay male surgeon.

Teddy (Kim Raver) reveals her pregnancy to Maggie (Kelly McCreary) and at one point, gunshots can be heard being fired in the Grey-Sloan Memorial O.R.

However, the biggest twist arrives in the form of a glimpse into Meredith Grey's (Ellen Pompeo) love life.

The trailer shows her in bed with Dr. Andrew DeLuca (Giacomo Gianniotti) but we're not too sure if it's just a dream.

Whatever it is, the scene is sure to upset some viewers after the death or Meredith's husband Derek (played by Patrick Dempsey).

ABC also released the storyline for the two-hour season 15 premiere, titled "With a Wonder and a Wild Desire"/"Broken Together".

During the first hour, the doctors at Grey Sloan Memorial vie for a new position. Meredith is seemingly distracted and struggles to stay focused, and Maggie finds herself the keeper of a big secret while Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) and Owen (Kevin McKidd) try to figure out their relationship.

Meanwhile, Jo (Camilla Luddington) and Alex's (Justin Chambers) honeymoon doesn't go exactly as planned.

In the second hour, new doctors continue to shake up the hospital in typical Grey Sloan manner.

Meredith bonds with a patient while Jackson (Jesse Williams) struggles with the meaning behind recent experiences; and after making a life-changing decision, Jo forms an unexpected alliance.

However, fans are nervous after there were rumours earlier this year that the series could be ending after season 15.

Rumours about the series itself coming to an end sooner rather than later have taken off thanks to some cryptic comments from Ellen.

She's reported to have said: "We're starting to think about how you would end a show this iconic.

"How do you end it? But we're not there yet. We're going to focus on season 15.

ABC

"We just take it one season at a time."

Ellen is currently the highest-paid actress in primetime drama, and she reportedly sees around $20 million a year from her role in Grey's.

The creator of the show, Shonda Rhimes, has said about an end date: "Ellen and I have a pact that I'm going to do the show as long as she's going to do the show...If she wants to stop, we're stopping.
