Has any reality show ever made us cry as much as this year's Love Island? Last night, the nation was in floods of tears as Amy Hart, 26, told her former love interest Curtis Pritchard, 23, that she was going to leave the villa as "when you love someone you have to let them go".

Amy, a former flight attendant, had been left heartbroken after Curtis' head was turned while she was at Casa Amor, and she told him she could no longer bear to be in the villa while healing from the break up.
During last night's show, Amy fought back tears as she told Curtis: "I came in here and I thought I was going to meet some nice people and I'd probably date one of them and they'd be alright and then I met you and you completely turned my whole world around."
She said in order to be "best, best friends", both she and Curtis needed to move on, but that she needed to leave the villa in order to make that happen, as she couldn't bear to watch him with other girls while her heart was healing.
She then delivered an equally emotional speech to the rest of the villa, telling her friends: "My Love Island journey finished last night when I sat at that fire pit and I looked at it and thought, 'Even if I had to take the last week, I would take it if it meant I could take those first four weeks over again.'
"I want to leave in a positive way, surrounded by the people I love, like this... I love you all so much and I cannot tell you what you've all done for me."
The Islanders broke down in tears at the news, and on social media, Amy was met with unanimous respect as fans of the show said she was putting her mental health first and taking the time she needed to recover from the shocking heartbreak.

Very mature decision. Hope she gets all the help she may need before being thrown into social media #LoveIsland pic.twitter.com/3Q4zDONuhv

Amy's feelings were and are so genuine which is what this show is or SHOULD be about. I am so gutted this has turned out this way for her. But what an unbelievably strong woman taking herself out of the situation with sheer dignity. I'm in awe of her strength. #loveisland

It takes a strong and empowering type of woman to act so graceful, selfless and positive about her own healing process. There is nothing worse than thinking the absolute world of someone and realising they aren't who they say they are. Handled like a Warrior!! #LoveIsland pic.twitter.com/xDypKuY7hT

We'll obviously still be tuning in tonight, but we don't know how much more our poor hearts can take.
Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2.
