New horror show The Haunting of Bly Manor has only just dropped on Netflix, but is already giving fans nightmares, it seems.

The creepy TV programme stars You's Victoria Pedretti as a new nanny sent to look after two children in Bly Manor, a large country house in Essex.

Freaked out yet? Here's the trailer:

Based on Henry James's 1898 novella, 'The Turn of the Screw', this offering is set in the 1980s and also stars Henry Thomas (The Haunting of Hill House) as the children's uncle, while newcomers Amelie Bea Smith and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth play Flora and Miles, Henry's niece and nephew.

The show's synopsis reads: "After an au pair's tragic death, Henry Wingrave hires a young American nanny to care for his orphaned niece and nephew who reside at Bly Manor with the estate's chef Owen, groundskeeper Jamie and housekeeper, Mrs. Grose.

"But all is not as it seems at the manor, and centuries of dark secrets of love and loss are waiting to be unearthed in this chilling gothic romance. At Bly Manor, dead doesn't mean gone."

And it seems that fans who have already watched the chilling show are having nightmares, taking to Twitter to express their fears.

"13 seconds into The Haunting of Bly Manor and already can tell I'll have a nightmare about this tonight thanks," says one freaked out fan.

While another wrote: "Stupid Haunting of Bly Manor gave me nightmares like a stupidface."

"I can confirm episode one of The Haunting of Bly Manor is nightmare fuel," wrote a third. "I didn't have dreams about it specifically, but there were very odd and creepy dreams that I haven't had in months right after I watched it. It's good. Promising. I bet I finish it by Wednesday."

In perhaps the creepiest tweet of all, however, one viewer recalled a terrifying experience they'd had after bingeing the series.

Twitter user @jimmi_elaine wrote: "Stayed up way too late baking & watching The Haunting of Bly Manor. Just now lying down for the night (its 4:30am-ish) and as soon as my eyes closed Lennon started laughing in her sleep and scared the sh*t out of me."

Other fans, meanwhile, have been calling this latest offering in the Haunting series scarier than the original, The Haunting of Hill House.

One viewer wrote: "1 episode into the haunting of bly manor and it's already scarier than season 1".

And another spoke highly of the Netflix programme, calling it scarier than the original.

"Do you know how many times I've had to exit Netflix bc The Haunting of Bly Manor is so much scarier than The Haunting of Hill House," they wrote.

Creepy AF, though we're not quite sure it'll stop us watching the show!
