The 2017 adaptation of Stephen King's IT left our nerves in tatters, but that hasn't stopped us from anxiously awaiting the sequel.

The first film, based on the book of the same name, focused on a shape-shifting, evil force who terrorises and kills children. It was hugely popular and well-received, so it's no surprise it's earned a follow-up.

And now, the trailer is finally here:

The trailer shows a grown-up Beverly (played by Jessica Chastain) visiting Derry only to realise it's still haunted by the terrifying IT.

Speaking to the house's new resident, a rather creepy old lady, she discovers the circus-performer origins of IT. From then on, well, things get terrifying...

It's currently unclear just what the sequel, entitled It - Chapter Two, will hold in store, apart from what we've seen in the trailer, but we do know that it will continue to adapt the book and pick up with the Losers Club 27 years later, when they're all adults.

The Losers Club will come back to Derry to thwart Pennywise once again, and director Andy Muschietti will return.

The cast seems pretty impressive, with James McAvoy as Bill, Jessica Chastain as Beverly, Bill Hader as Richie, Jay Ryan as Ben, James Ranson as Eddie, Andy Bean as Stanley, Isaiah Mustafa as Mike, and Bill Skarsgard returning as Pennywise. The kids from the first film will also return in flashbacks as the adults try to remember their past.

The film is set to be released in early September and will follow the massive success of the first film, which made $700 million (£538 million).

We can tell we won't be able to sleep at night after this one.
