Netflix Releases First Episode Of US Version Of ‘The Circle’

This looks SO GOOD.

Netflix has now released a clip from the first episode of the US version of The Circle ahead of its release next year.

The show - which is inspired by the Channel 4 series of the same name - will follow the same format as the Emma Willis fronted programme, and will land on the streaming platform on January 1st.

Four episodes will then be released every Wednesday over a three week period, ending on January 15th.

However, to whet our appetites, Netflix has now released the first hour an hour of episode one on YouTube in advance.

Eeeek. Go, go go!

The show, often branded a crossover between Big Brother and Catfish, so far looks remarkably similar to the UK version, and starts by introducing the first players and their bubbly personalities in mini VTs.

However, unlike the eclectic mix of ages and occupations in our OG version of the show, the American players are all rather young and hot, (think Love Island contestants, but all in separate villas) and most of them are actually playing themselves.

We quickly find out that Instagram model Alana Duval, 25, from Brownsville Texas, is playing it real, while lovably sassy and camp Chris Sapphire, 30, from Dallas, Texas, is being himself, too.

Joey Sasso, 25, from Rochester New York and Shubham Goel, 23, from Danville, California, are also going in without alter-egos.

While sportsman Antonio De Pina, 24, from Delaware and popular girl-next-door Samantha "Sammie" Cimarelli, 24, from Miami Florida, will also have nothing to hide.

Our first catfish comes in the form of Seaburn Williams, 29, from Boston Massachusetts - a man who is pretending to be stunning 26-year-old Rebecca instead.

"I've done my research, I know everything there is to be the perfect woman," he says smugly. We guess only time will tell.

He's joined by one other fake - 37-year-old Karyn Blanco from The Bronx, New York -who will instead be playing as younger Mercedeze - a 27-year-old.

"She's fancy all the way down, and I am not, so why not make myself approachable?," she reasons. "I am like every other girl next door regardless that I dress like the flyest girl on the block." This sure looks like it's going to be interesting.

We won't give the whole thing away, but, like with the UK version, the contestants are then shown making their own Circle bios and picking their pictures, before having a browse of each other's pages and pondering who is real and who isn't.

All the contestants seem keen to make their alliances early on, and the girls quickly pull together a ladies group chat which catfishes Seaburn and Karyn are invited into.

There's some instant flirting too, particularly between Instagram model Alana and Joey and Antonio and Mercedeze. Little does the contestant know that he's really flirting with a woman ten years older...

The clip also shows two players voted as influencers, who then have to decide who they want to vote out first.

We won't ruin the result, but the clip cuts out just after the blocked player is offered the chance to meet a player of their choice.

But who will they meet? And what's in store next for The Circle players?

The Circle lands on Netflix on January 1st and then will then be released every Wednesday over a three week period.
