Netflix has a knack for producing Christmas films that have everyone talking. In recent years, the streamer has produced its fair share of so-bad-they're-good festive flicks, but one excellent standout has to be 2018's The Christmas Chronicles.

A soon-to-be Christmas classic, the movie - produced by the man behind Home Alone and Harry Potter - received rave reviews when it landed.

It followed "true believers", siblings Kate (Darby Camp) and Teddy Pierce (Judah Lewis), who attempt to capture Santa Claus on Christmas Eve.

However, after their plan went awry and they accidentally crashed Santa's sleigh, the sibling duo joined forces with St Nick to get the presents delivered on time, with just a few obstacles in the way.

In 2019, Netflix announced a sequel was coming this year and we're now just a couple of months away from its release.

Heres's everything we know about The Christmas Chronicles 2 so far.

What will The Christmas Chronicles 2 be about?

The plot of the sequel, The Christmas Chronicles 2, will revisit Kate, who is now a disillusioned teenager, and her brother Teddy.

According to Netflix: "It's been two years since siblings Kate and Teddy Pierce saved Christmas, and a lot has changed. Kate, now a cynical teenager, is reluctantly spending Christmas in Cancun with her mom's new boyfriend and his son Jack (Jahzir Bruno). Unwilling to accept this new version of her family, Kate decides to run away.

"But when a mysterious, magical troublemaker named Belsnickel threatens to destroy the North Pole and end Christmas for good, Kate and Jack are unexpectedly pulled into a new adventure with Santa Claus."

There's also been hints Mrs Claus, played by Goldie Hawn, will play more of a starring role in the sequel - which is exactly what we like to see.

This already sounds like the making of a super fun follow-up.

Who will be starring in The Christmas Chronicles 2?

Excitingly, Kurt Russell and real-life partner Goldie Hawn will reprise their roles as Mr and Mrs Claus for the second instalment.

The couple will be joined by Darby Camp and Judah Lewis once again, who played Kate and Teddy Pierce in the first film, while Kimberly Williams Paisley will play their mother Claire one more time.

Joining the cast this time around is Deadpool 2's Julian Dennison, who will play Belsnickel, a magical troublemaker from German folklore who wants to ruin Christmas. The Oath's Jahzir Bruno will also star in the sequel.

Supporting cast include Lamorne Morris, Oliver Hudson and Martin Roach.
