The trailer for new psychedelic film The Beach Bum starring Zac Efron and Matthew McConaughey has just dropped, and it's two and minutes of pure gold.

Mcconaughey takes on the leading role of the 'Beach Bum' himself - Moondog, who IMDB describes as a 'rebellious stoner' living life by his own rules.

As for Zac? The High School Musical alum stars as Flicker, and the actor sports *interesting* facial hair (to say the least) for his latest film role. Details on his role in the film are thin on the ground, although we do know that Flicker is one of the characters that Moondog meets on his journey.

The trailer gives us a look at a man with enormous riches who throws it all away on partying and living a very lavish lifestyle.

Moondog is a poet who gets arrested and tries to churn out a poem to last through the ages. It also shows us fast cars, flying a plane while high and a parrot that is addicted to cocaine.

Jonah Hill, Snoop Dogg and Isla Fischer appear alongside Efron and McConaughey in The Beach Bum, which is yet to be given a release date in the UK. However, the flick will premiere at Texan film festival South by Southwest on 22nd March.

The synopsis is short but sweet, reading: "A rebellious stoner named Moondog lives life by his own rules."

The Beach Bum is the work of Harmony Korine, writer and director of the 2012 film Spring Breakers - a critically acclaimed movie about four college girls who descend into a world of violence and crime inhabited by an eccentric drug dealer.

And Korine's newest movie looks like it might follow the same pattern of being pretty wild but with a deeper message hidden in there somewhere. The trailer shows us bold characters and hints at more complex strains on their relationships.
