Pulses may soar.

Take Me Out host Paddy McGuinness loves nothing more than an innuendo - and after Saturday's special themed episode, we may need an immuniser for his brazen puns.

The one-off episode of the fan-favourite dating show is a celebration of the brave men and women who dedicate their lives to the emergency services, from firefighters to policemen and paramedics.

Fireman's poles? Love doctors? Paddy's innuendos may have audiences checking their pulses before dialling 999.

The special follows on from an episode themed around all things 80s, with the single girls kitted out in cartoonish shoulder-pads and the boys rocking colourful windbreakers.

There was big hair. There was power dressing. There was synthesised music.

During the episode, we will see 30 single women who work in the emergency services take to the light-up podiums, from ambulance staff to nurses.

But who are the single male contenders doing their best to woo them?

Emerging from the 'love lift', hoping for a hot date and a trip to the sunny Isle of Fernando's, is paramedic Johnny, firefighter John and Doctor Iman.

For these hard-working men and women, busy work-lives leave very little time for socialising, let alone romance.

A career in the world of accident and emergency services may mean that dating apps, romantic dinners or sussing out a potential love interest's suitability end up taking a back seat.

But in the show, Paddy will perform emergency resuscitation on the love lives of his courageous contestants, and provide a remedy for their romantic woes.

Now in its eleventh series, 'Take Me Out' has seen eight of its couples get married, with six babies born. (

He stands a fair chance, too. Despite the perception of Take Me Out as a comical, lighthearted show, it has some impressive success stories.

Since first airing, Take Me Out, now in its eleventh series, has seen eight of its couples get married, with six babies born, the most recent being in March 2019.

Who will be airlifted out of the studio to the Isle of Fernando's?
